Impact of Christian Material for the ADF

By MCF_Admin

29,000+ Bibles, New Testaments, Christian resources distributed to ADF chaplains and ministry partners in the FY 2024-25

Through Bible Society Australia’s Scripture Grants program, chaplains and ministry partners within the Australian Defence Force (ADF) were equipped with Bibles, New Testaments, devotionals, and Scripture-based discipleship materials. These resources continue to strengthen the faith and resilience of the men and women serving our nation. Through this program, ADF personnel are ensured access to God’s word — whether in the barracks, at sea, or deployed in challenging environments

In March 2025, Bible Society Australia launched the NIV Anglicised Tri-Service Bible at the Australian Defence Organisation’s Russell building in Canberra, with ADF representatives in attendance. This Bible now serves as a cornerstone resource for ADF chaplaincy ministry.

During the 2024–2025 financial year, Bible Society Australia provided ADF chaplains and ministry partners with more than 29,000 Scripture and devotional resources:
Bibles (NIV Anglicised Tri-Service Bible): 8,220
New Testaments: 8,362
Christian resources (Devotionals, ‘My Story, My God’, ‘In the Forces’ tract): 8,632
Scripture selections (‘40 Scriptures for Life’ mini book): 4,040

Testimony
“The ADF specific material made available to the Military Christian Fellowship of Australia via BSA
is invaluable to us. It gives us a chance to put Defence specific Christian material into the hands
of those working in this space, and is well received and read … This wouldn’t be the case if this
was generic Christian material. Being able to have people relate their life experience with those
found in books like ‘My Story, My God’ and have either waterproof or small, easy to transport on
the person resources makes God’s Word accessible at any time. This allows for Biblical discussions
not just for MCF Bible Study and Small Groups, but out in the workplace which could be ‘out bush’,
overseas, in the air, on board a ship, amongst many other places. The study of God’s Word, worship
and discussions are made easier, with material specific to this unique environment and its people.”
