The Governor General of Australia helps celebrate 40 years of MCF-A
On the morning of Tuesday 12th March, 2024 around 60 invited past and present MCF-A Council members and Patrons, along with other military ministries, supporters and guests attended a morning tea at Government House Canberra. Former MCF-A Patron, His Excellency General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd), Governor General of Australia along with Her Excellency Mrs Linda Hurley, the current Patron of Solid Rock an MCF-A partner, mingled amongst guest after an encouraging and personal address given by the Governor General. The address was replied to by the current MCF-A Chair, Chaplain Stephen Neuhaus which was followed by a personally written and then sung song about MCF-A by Mrs Hurley. At the request of Mrs Hurley the guests then sang a fine rendition of the first verse and chorus of the hymn ‘To God be the Glory’.
As one guest commented; ‘ Wow, that was a foretaste of heaven! The highest person in the land praying over everything MCF-A and then wonderful singing and praise with no music, it was electric! Praise be to God!’
The MCF-A Council would like to thank the Governor General and Mrs Hurley for their hospitality and spending so much time with guests. They would also like to thank every single person who is a member or supporter of MCF-A over the past 40 years and also for the years before the two organisations amalgamated to become the Military Christian Fellowship of Australia. You have all contributed in so many ways with giving time, donations, prayers and in many other ways. Every single one of you are special to MCF-A and to God. Special thanks to the Forum of Christian Military Ministry (FCMM) and other partners for your support over the years. MCF-A look forward to working with you all well into the future.
