10th National Day of Prayer for Defence – weekend of 28/29 March 2020

Please see COVID-19 changes to this event below.

The weekend of 28-29 March (or preferably the week preceeding) MCF-A are asking Christians on Defence Bases, along with all Churches and other Christian groups across Australia, to join them in upholding the Australian Defence Organisation in prayer. Last year 26 groups across Australia and overseas took part.

Churches and other Christian groups (such as prayer groups) are strongly encouraged to be involved. It can be as simple as adding some prayer points from the booklet to your regular meeting.

Below is a link to flyers, and a booklet you can adapt to use in your area.

Please see below the update from the MCF-A Exec in regard to COVID-19  and Zoom gathering on Saturday 28 March from RAAF Sale, Vic.

Register your Church or group’s interest by sending name, place/address of event, date and time to the MCF office. To do this or to  find out more information please contact:  [email protected] (phone 02 6266 4950).

Update on National Day of Prayer for Defence events and COVID-19 from MCF-A Exec – 17 March 2020

It is with a degree of sadness that the MCF Executive have undertaken to change this year’s National Day of Prayer for Defence to a private, rather than public, event. The threat of COVID-19, particularly to older people and those with existing conditions that make them more vulnerable, is not to be taken lightly and it is with this in mind that we have decided not to hold a public event in Canberra; we encourage others around the country to do likewise. Of course, this does not stop us from uplifting the Australian Defence Organisation, its leadership, chaplains, members and their families, to our Lord in prayer. We encourage everyone with a heart for Defence to do this, whether from their own home or another similarly private venue, on the 28th of March. Let us intercede on behalf of Defence and indeed our nation, before our God who is Lord of all, and in whose hand our world rests. May God bless and keep you and your loved ones through whatever else 2020 may bring!  CMDR Dan Sutherland, MCF-A Chair. (Prayers can be found in the booklet download link above)

Please download the prayer booklet in the link above for 2020 prayer requests.

Please note: The above is in relation to events being held on Defence Bases. Some of these may still go ahead if the gathering can comply with current COVID-19 Defence directive. Please contact to make sure the event is going ahead and can comply with the Defence and Government directives on the day.
